ECE444 Advanced Digital Design
Assignment 6

  1. Download the example project audio1. Build the project, connect the output (from line-out plug) to an oscilloscope and the input (line-in plug) to the function generator. Use a Y-connector from the function generator to display the input on the oscilloscope. Set the input to various waveforms (frequency about 500 Hz) and capture the input and output signals from the oscilloscope.

  2. Set the input to a sine wave of various amplitudes and capture the digitized values using SignalTap II. Plot the amplitude in counts versus the amplitude in volts.

  3. Download the example MATLAB files audio.zip. Using the MATLAB laboratory instrument control program and the audio1 project, measure and plot the frequency response of the system by finding the voltage amplitude ratio (Vout/Vin) and phase over the frequency range where the amplitude ratio is above 0.1.

  4. Follow the guidelines in DSP examples (ECE575 Cornell University) and generate a bandpass filter. Have your filter specifications and target filter type approved by the instructor.
