Making Hardcopy Plots and Listings with CODE V

Graphics Windows

CODE V allows you to specify up to 8 graphics, or plot, windows. You can use the buttons to zoom in or out or to fit the plot in the window. Use the mouse to drag a rectangle around a part of the plot to enlarge it (zoom selection). You can also re-size and iconify (minimize) windows with the mouse (use yuour standard windowing system methods).

Saving plots as graphics files

Generating hard copy from CODE V

Enable output to a plot file:

Command/output window

The command/output window is the place where output text goes. You cannot input to it, but you can use the mouse to scroll through it and select text.

Entering command mode

Enter by the menu File - Command Mode or via the command mode toolbar button

In command mode, a command input field becomes active at the bottom of the Command/Input window. CODE V commands are entered here, and you can pop up a list of the 30 most recent command lines. To get back to GUI input mode from command mode, type the command GUI followed by the Enter key.

Saving text

You can save or print the contents of the command window by using the window menu, but a more efficient technique is to either save the contents to a text file and edit them before printing or to cut selected text from the command window and paste it directly into an editor window. The following text was abstracted from a command window and then edited to remove some superflous information.

CODE V Files

CODE V uses a system of 3-letter extensions and version numbers to organize its data and output files. For example, doublet.len.4 is version 4 of a lens data file with the generic name doublet.

lenlens data (binary)
seqlens data (ascii)
lis list output
pltplot output
psPostscript output
