EOP513 Fourier Optics Assignment 8

  1. Use Matlab to do problems 6-3, 6-4, and 6-5 from the textbook.

  2. Do problem 6-9 from the textbook.

  3. Do problems 6-10, 6-11, and 6-12 from the textbook.

  4. Show the point spread function (images) for two waves of the following astigmatism aberrations:
    1. W1(x, y) = x2
    2. W2(x, y) = y2
    3. W3(x, y) = x2 - y2
    4. W4(x, y) = 2 x y

  5. Show the point spread function (images) for two waves of the following coma aberrations. Add tilt to center the spread function
    1. W1(x, y) = r2y
    2. W2(x, y) = r4y
    where r2 = x2 + y2

  6. Show the point spread function (images) for one-half wave of the following aberrations.
    1. W1(r) = 2r2 - 1 (focal shift)
    2. W2(r) = 6r4-6r2+1 (fourth-order Zernike spherical aberration)
